Keema curry is a classic South Asian dish made with minced meat, often beef, lamb or chicken, cooked with onions, tomatoes, garlic, and a blend of warm spices. It’s a comforting, savoury dish that’s quick to prepare and incredibly satisfying.
I usually use curry powder for this recipe because it’s quick and convenient, but you can absolutely swap in curry paste if you prefer a more concentrated flavour – it works beautifully either way.
Keema is a wonderfully versatile recipe that can be adapted to suit your taste or what you have on hand, making it a regular in many homes across India, Pakistan and beyond.
If you enjoy the vibrant spices and creamy textures of Indian cuisine, you’ll also love my authentic Butter Chicken recipe. It’s a classic favourite that’s just as easy to make and guaranteed to impress.

I use 10% fat beef mince for a good balance of flavour and juiciness, but if you prefer a leaner dish, you can absolutely go with 5% fat mince instead.
It goes perfectly with naan, roti, or plain basmati rice. You can also try stuffing it into wraps or serving it over baked potatoes for a fun twist.
I personally use the Le Creuset non-stick sauté pan. It’s my favourite for one-pot meals like beef keema curry. It heats evenly, cleans up easily, and the non-stick surface means less oil and no sticking, making cooking and cleanup a breeze.
Yes! Beef keema curry freezes beautifully. Let it cool completely, then portion into airtight containers and freeze for up to 3 months. Perfect for food prep!
