Why Use the Air Fryer?

Efficiency and Texture: The air fryer makes this recipe simple and quick, delivering a perfectly crisp bagel exterior while evenly cooking the egg inside. Unlike traditional frying or toasting, the air fryer creates a golden-brown crust without drying out the bagel or requiring extra oil. It’s also more energy-efficient, making it ideal for preparing something special without much effort.

Minimal Mess, Maximum Flavour: With the air fryer’s contained basket, there’s less cleanup involved, and it helps lock in flavours—perfect for a satisfying, indulgent breakfast. Plus, you avoid the mess of the stovetop, giving you more time to enjoy your meal and less time spent cleaning up!

This delicious Smoked Salmon Sunrise Bagel recipe is a brunch favourite! Featuring a bagel with a perfectly cooked egg in the center, topped with creamy cream cheese, rich smoked salmon, fresh salad, and cherry tomatoes, it’s all air-fried to perfection for minimal mess. Perfect for a gourmet breakfast or weekend brunch, this easy recipe will impress with layers of fresh, savoury flavours and a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1 Bagel

  • 2 Eggs

  • Smoked Salmon

  • 1 tbsp Cream Cheese

  • 4 Cherry Tomatoes (Halved)

  • Handful of House Salad

  • Black Pepper (Grounded)

  • Rock Salt

  • Olive Oil

  • Sriracha Sauce (Optional)

Directions

  • Prepare the bagel: Slice the bagel in half and use a spoon or small knife to widen the center hole slightly, just enough to fit the egg yolk and a bit of egg white.
  • Assemble for Cooking: Place each bagel half, cut side up, in the air fryer basket. Crack the eggs into a small bowl, and gently pour the yolks and enough egg white to fill the hole of each bagel half. (Discard excess egg white or save for another use.)
  • Cook the Bagel and Egg: Air fry at 175°C for 5–6 minutes if you prefer a soft, runny yolk, or 7–8 minutes for a more set yolk. Check halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  • Add Cream Cheese and Salmon: Carefully remove the bagel halves from the air fryer. Spread the cream cheese on the bagel halves and around the eggs, then layer with smoked salmon.
  • Add Toppings: Top with a handful of fresh house salad and halved cherry tomatoes. Drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with black pepper and rock salt to finish.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately while warm and enjoy your Smoked Salmon Sunrise Bagel !

Notes

  • Adjust cooking time for desired egg consistency.
  • For a twist on flavour, try swapping smoked salmon with other options like smoked trout or gravlax. Each brings its own unique taste to the dish, adding versatility and variety to this brunch favourite.
